For Environment Management Himachal Company Bags Green Award

[lang_en]Shimla: Hydro electricity generator Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam, a public sector company has been awarded the prestigious 9th Annual Green Tech Environment Excellence GOLD Award 2008 in Hydro Power Sector.

The award has been conferred for outstanding achievement in environment management activities at its 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri power station and the up coming 412 MW Rampur Hydro-electric power project.

On behalf of SJVNL, the Award was received by JK Sharma, director civil, recently at the 9th Annual Global Environment Conference and Expo at Goa .

Towards management of 30 lakh cubic meter of muck that is likely to be generated from constructing the 412 MW Rampur hydro electric project’s underground works, four designated sites with appropriate retaining walls and terracing along the contours for their proper restoration and stabilization have been built and no muck is being thrown into the Satluj River on which the project lies.

SJVNL, which operates the country’s largest hydro power station has been in the forefront of environment management and has been awarded by other organizations also.[/lang_en]
