Himachal celebrates its 39th Statehood Day

Dehra: Himachal Pradesh celebrated its 39th Statehood Day with great gaiety and fervour. On the occasion Chief Minister, Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, today unfurled the National flag, driven in an open jeep, inspected contingents of Himachal Police, Traffic Police, Women Police, HP Police Dog squad, Police Band and Home Guards, took salute from the impressive march past commanded by Ms. Veena Bharti, IPS Probationer, organized at Dehra, Kangra.
While addressing a massive gathering of people on the occasion he paid his tributes to the First Chief Minister of Himachal, late Dr. Y.S. Parmar, who headed the campaign to win State its Statehood and thereby laying the foundation of the golden future and credited the successive governments in the State for farsightedness, developmental policies and programmes besides the honest and hard working people of the State, who had contributed in taking the State to greater heights in development.
He announced that from 1st March, 2009, 10 percent enhancement in daily wages and part time wages, 10 percent interim relief to State Government employees and pensioners, the milk procurement price would be enhanced by Rs. 2 per litre and said that no permission is required by public in constructing their residential buildings, cow sheds, daily need shops, agriculture and horticulture related activities, service related industries i.e. flour mill, domestic industry, workshops, and miscellaneous local facilities etc.
He further mentioned the various steps taken by the Govt. to develop various sectors of the State and honoured different sports Gold Medalists.
