Amritsar: In one of the biggest seizures in recent months, the Border Security Force (BSF) Thursday recovered nearly 27 kg of heroin, valued at several crores of rupees, from near the India-Pakistan border in Punjab’s Amritsar district.
The huge consignment was found close to the barbed wire fencing near Rajatal village, a BSF officer said.
“This consignment was being brought by Pakistan based smugglers who were challenged by our (BSF) troopers early today. As troops opened fire, they fled from the spot but left the consignment behind,” the officer said here.
This is the second big consignment recovered by BSF’s 41st battalion in the last 48 hours to early Thursday.
BSF Tuesday recovered over 15 kg heroin in Amritsar along the international border.
