Gagret: Tourism had always been the top industry of the State and shall remain so in future as well since the State Government had been putting in concerted efforts to promote tourism in a big way with ecological safeguards. This was stated by Virbhadra Singh, Chief Minister while launching the first three-wheeler manufactured in the State by Possible Automobiles Private Limited, Gagret in district Una at a function held here today.
Chief Minister said that the mother nature had blessed the State with immense natural wealth and healthy climatic conditions which were the major ingredients for the tourism industry. He said that government was exploiting the natural potential with ecological safeguards and a number of new schemes were formulated for focused development of the tourism in the State which included Buddhist Circuit, Temple Circuit and other similar programmes aimed at focused development of the tourism related activities. He said that big National and International Sports Events associated with tourism potential were also being organized to attract more tourists to visit the State all round the year.
Singh said that Himachal Pradesh had emerged as the favourite destination for industrial investments and during last four years, an investment of over Rs. 26,000 crore had been attracted which envisaged employment potential to over 3.20 lakh persons.
