Shimla: Finishing the gruelling 36 kilometers of tough mountain biking tracks in these parts of the Himalaya, it was the Shimal boys Devender Thakur with a timing of 4:44:08 followed by Akshit Thakur with a timing of 4:58:40 who came out on top to win the two day racing event. Shiven with a timing of 5:03:39 was in third position.
Of the 101 riders who were flagged of in the morning yesterday, there were only 92 who started back for Shimla from Sadhupul today as 9 overnight riders dropped out of the race.
In an event that did see participation from veterans, Akshit, who is only 16 years and a student at St Edwards School, performance surprised everyone.
