Shimla: Driver of a Maruti car is said to have died and three others sustained injuries when their vehicle collided head on with a multi-utility vehicle (HP 63 – 2862) a little while ago on the Shimla bye pass highway at BCS – New Shimla junction.
Talking to Hill Post investigating officer head constable Ram Lal said that it was head collision and the injured have been rushed to hospital.
Preliminary reports suggest that the car was driving on the wrong lane when it hit into the oncoming vehicle.
The policeman said that over telephone he had received communication from another police team at the hospital that the driver of the car who had sustained major injuries has succumbed to them. The person is still to be identified, he added.
Eyewitnesses claimed that there were four passengers including the driver in the car and two in the multi-utility vehicle. No one was injured in the multi-utility vehicle, the investigating officer said.
At the time of filing the report, road measurements and photographic evidence of the accident was being collected.
UPDATE:
The vehicles involved in the accident were HP 63 – 2862 and Maruti car HP 39a – 0081.
The four passengers in the car were Kapil, Bhupinder, Kamaljeet and Parbesh. Kapil who was driving the vehicle died in the accident.
