Launching the new bike here Thursday, general manager R. Chandrasekar said: “We are targeting monthly sales of around 4,000 units for the new model.”
At the national level, the company hopes to sell around 45,000 units monthly.
Chandrasekar said the new bike delivers the power of 125cc bike with the fuel economy of 100cc bikes. The focus is on providing fuel economy to the buyer without any other differentiating features, he said.
Chandrasekar said Discover 100T comes with four-valve DTS-I engine, five-speed gear box, auto choke for easy start, gas-filled Nitrox suspension, a muscular tank, electric start and other features.
Queried about the industry trends, he said sales of premium-end models have picked up after a dip and the entry-level segment is also growing.
Chandrasekar said Bajaj Auto has been able to hold on to its market share at a time when the overall motorcycle industry is experiencing a flat growth.
