Scanty rainfall in Himachal, river levels down

Shimla: After days of moderate to heavy rains, the hills of Himachal Pradesh saw scanty rainfall Sunday, a weather official said.

Most of the rivers that were in spate saw a decline in water levels.
“The entire state has been witnessing decline in monsoon activity since Friday. Such conditions are likely to remain same till Tuesday,” said an official at Met office.

Shimla got 0.6 mm of rain, while it was 5.6 mm in Dharamsala, 6.2 mm in Una and 2.2 mm in Manali.

A government spokesperson said the water level in the Satluj, the Beas and the Yamuna rivers and their tributaries has receded massively.

According to the weather office, since Saturday, the maximum temperatures decreased by two to three degrees, while there was no appreciable change in minimum temperatures.

Meanwhile, Dharamsala recorded a high of 28.8 degrees Celsius, while the maximum of Kalpa town in Kinnaur district was 24 degrees.

These towns saw night temperatures at 20.4 and 11.4 degrees Celsius, respectively.
