[lang_en]The Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (HPPCL) had been conferred upon ‘Excellence Award’ recently by the Institute of Economic Studies, New Delhi for its contribution towards development of power.
Bhisham Narayan Singh, former Governor of Tamilnadu gave away the award to C.M. Walia, Director, Electrical, Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd, who received the award on behalf of the Corporation. He said that HPPCL in its corporate plan had planned to develop 3000 MW power generation capacity by March, 2017 and 5000 MW by the year 2022 and added that it was also considering to have capacity addition of 1000 MW through thermal power projects and 500 MW through hydel projects in joint venture or through public-private partnership mode within or outside the State. Solar power generation is another area where Corporation is endeavoring to start grid interactive photovoltaic power generation system in the Pradesh through pilot demonstration projects, he added.[/lang_en]
