Palampur 28 November. Dr.Tej Partap, Vice-Chancellor, CSK Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University, has asked the home science experts to formulate long and short duration vocational courses for metric and plus two fail students. He was addressing scientist and trainees of hospitality management training programme, here today.
The Vice Chancellor said lakhs of under-metric unemployed persons in the state do not have ample job opportunities whereas experts of home science college do not have adequate number of students for degree courses so it was imperative to start short and long duration courses in the college for the mutual benefit of trainees and trainers. He elaborated that certificate and diploma course in collaboration with other specialized institutes can be started gradually. He asked hospitality staff to be expert in all issues concerned with culinary skills and proper care and upkeep of guesthouses and hostels. There was an urgent need to change the behaviour and etiquettes of staff associated with such service windows of the university.
Dr.Pradeep K Sharma, dean, college of home science, said that in the era of specialization, there was an urgent need to add technique and science in the art of food preparation. A congenial atmosphere has to be created by hospitality staff for the visitors so that they feel comfortable and at ease in the rest places.
Dr.Jatinder Kishatwaria, head, department of family resource management, detailed about the training programme. She informed that services of experts from nearby hotels would be taken to impart skills to the fifteen trainees. Professor Avinash Sharma also imparted knowledge on hospitality aspects.
