Himachal PR urged to upgrade professional skills

dprjuly7.jpgShimla: Dinesh Malhotra, Director, Information and Public Relations said that website of the department had been improved by strengthening the data bank keeping in view the importance of information in the present times and added that all wings of the department have been computerized. He was addressing the officers of Department in a meeting held here today.

Malhotra urged the officers of the Department to upgrade their professional skills which would enable them to perform their duties in a more effective manner and added that the role of department had acquired more importance with time and the department should make proper use of the latest technology. He said that the department was being equipped with latest technological devices and an effort was being made to strengthen the infrastructure which would bring about more promptness and efficiency in the working of the department besides improving the quality of work.

He directed the officers to disseminate the policies and programmes of the Government to every nook and corner of the State so that people could derive maximum benefits out of various welfare schemes being implemented by the State Government and added that proper feedback should also be provided regarding effectiveness of existing schemes which would go a long way in devising an improvement mechanism at the Government level.

He hoped that working of the department would further improve with the sanctioning of functional posts and added that process for filling them up was going on.

  • The irony is that people really don’t know what PR department is all about. First for all PR department needs to present themselves to general public. The site looks good but i was not able to find the contact numbers of PRO for each district. The good part is contact information for Press Correspondents is available. Some of the files uploaded are not opening up, but still a good start.
