One person murdered in badhana Panchyat by his own cousin

A young man Mittar Singh has been reportedly murdered by his own cousins in a small  helmet of Harijan families Masrani under Badhana Panchyat in Paonta Sub Division, yesterday.

Paonta police sources told that after receiving information a Police team from Singhpura Police post rushed to Masrani helmet yesterday and took dead body of Mittar Singh into custody. The dead body had been sent for a post mortem. Sources said that deceased had deep head injury despite other injuries on the body.

As per sources, on June 13th in the night hours a party had been organized by Dinesh after completion of one year of his marriage at his residence. In that party wine was served and under the influence of wine heated arguments between Mitter Singh and his cousins Dinesh and Rakesh converted in to a scuffle. Persons present on this occasion tried to control both the parties and the matter was hushed up.

To the surprise of residents, around mid night Dinesh and Rakesh reportedly armed with Lathies and Darat [sharp edged weapon] knocked the door of Mitter Singh and there was again a scuffle between them. Mittar Singh reportedly tried to hit back on the attackers but he fell unconscious after Rakesh hit him on the head with a Lathi. Residents again intervened to hush up the matter but no body cared about the injuries of Mitter Singh. In the next morning Mitter Singh succumbed to his injuries without any medical aid.

Incharge of Sighpura Police Post Harjeet Singh confirmed the arrest of Rakesh and Dinesh in connection with this murder. He added that a case under section 302, 451 and 34 IPC had been registered.

Former Vice President of Badhana Panchyat and social worker told this correspondent over telephone that Masrani was a rural helmet, settled on a rural hill away from road. This barren land was allotted to the landless Harijans a few years back by the government of Himachal Pradesh. Helmet had been provided with the electricity and potable water but does not have road link.
