Delhi Woman Assaults Cops In Manali Over Parking

Manali: A tourist from Delhi who was opposed by cops in Manali for wrong parking of the car at Ram Bagh chowk yesterday late evening assaulted a constable and a lady home guard jawan and created chaos in the middle of the busy road.

The woman was booked by Manali police under section 353, 332, 506 and 34 of IPC Act and she was taken into custody. The accused was produced before the court today where she was remanded to police custody for one day.

According to Prem Singh ASI, Manali police station , the lady Rakhi Bhalla R/o H.NO-A2/22,Ashoka Apartment, Paschim Vihar,New Delhi-63 was travelling in their car (PB11CA-6993) with her husband, a son and a daughter when a police constable asked tourists not to park in no parking zone. The woman who was driving the car started arguing with the constable and suddenly assaulted him. A woman home guard on duty came to rescue him from the lady tourist. But the tourist slapped the home guard also. The drama continued for nearly 30 minutes and people from the town also came to support the police.

The police then asked the woman driver to show her driving license but she refused to show the document. This resulted in traffic jam on the Ram Bagh chowk. A local shopkeeper who was opposing the act of the lady also received slaps from her. Her 17-year-old son is also accused of misbehaving with the police.

Kullu superintendent of police Shalini Agnihotri said the accused was arrested by police and was produced before the court where she has been remanded into police custody till Friday. She said the accused woman who belongs to Delhi was travelling with her family and assaulted a police constable and a lady home guard.
