Shimla: As the apple harvest is expected to be a bounty one this year in Himachal Pradesh, which is one the country’s leading fruit 
producing, the state government decision to permit truckers to hike freight rates by 15 % has come as a damper to the fruit growers.
The crop is ready to hit the market and the government’s decision is bound to cause heart burns in much of the apple belt where as it is transportation is already in a chaotic mess. The freight charged by truckers from apple producers is not by weight but per apple box.
