New Delhi, April 11 (IANS) India and Bangladesh Friday agreed to consider a collaboration on producing a film depicting the 1971 “War of Liberation”, officials said.
Bangladesh Minister for Information and Broadcasting Hasanul Haq Inu, who is in India, met his Indian counterpart Manish Tewari and had extensive discussions on the project.
“Both the ministers agreed to consider a joint collaboration for production of a mega film depicting the ‘War of Liberation’. It was agreed to work towards a roadmap to finalise the proposal shortly,” said an official.
The official said Bangladesh has requested India to provide the names of the soldiers who had laid down their lives during the 1971 war with Pakistan following which East Pakistan seceded as the independent state of Bangladesh.
Dhaka wants to recognise the contribution made by Indian soldiers during the historical event, the official added.
Both ministers also agreed to intensify the collaboration between Prasar Bharti and Bangladesh State Television in view of an agreement signed between the two entities in 2011.
