Shimla: Monica Bharti, daughter-in-law of former MP Chander Kumar, is the newpresident of the Himachal Pradesh Indian Youth Congress (IYC), a party official said here Saturday.
In a one-sided contest, Monika, wife of sitting legislator Neeraj Bharti, won the poll with a margin of 3,191 votes, said the party functionary. She polled 3,880 votes.
The counting of the ballots was held here Saturday. Out of 10,602 voters, 5,076 youth Congress activists participated in election held Wednesday.
Earlier, the election of union minister and former chief minister Virbhadra Singh’s son Vikramaditya as IYC president was declared null and void owing to violation of the code of conduct.
