Shimla: Setting up a modest total, Lawerence School Sanawar did put up a fight in trying to contain the Sonabead Public School within the target but lost in the final of the RK Von Goldstein T20 cricket tournament.
Winning the toss the Sanawar boys elected to bat and put up 128 runs on the board in the allotted 20 overs. Sofat was the highest run getter for the team scoring 29 runs.
Starting out with a strong batting line up, the Sonabade schools boys at one point were 90 for 4 wickets with six overs to spare, when the Sanawar boys turned the game into a close fight. After the fall of 9 wickets, the team that had travelled all the way for Orissa were ultimately winners scoring 130 runs in 19.4 overs.
Earlier in the semi-final Sanawar beat host team BCS by eight wickets. BCS won the toss and elected to bat first and put up a total of 152 runs in the allotted overs. Samart Singh was the highest scorer for the host team with 54 runs to his credit. For Sanawar AK Hooda scored 84 runs.
In the other semi-final Sonabade Public School beat Durga Public School, Solan. Bibhatsu Thapa of BCS was declared man of the series.

In all there were ten teams who participated in the tournament. Other schools who participated included The Assembly of God Church School, Ukhra; The Assembly of God Church School, Sodepur; Vasant Valley, Vasant Kunj, Delhi; Mahbert High School, Siliguri;; Bishop Cotton School – B Team and St. Edward’s School, Shimla.
Held in the memory of Major RK Von Goldstein, who was the last foreign headmaster (1964-1976) of BCS, a public school founded in 1859, the tournament started in 2001, is supported by Shimla District Cricket Association.
