9.83 Lakh Himachal Farmers Draw Benefit Of Rs 1931.63 Crore From Direct Transfers

Shimla: India being an agrarian economy, farmers play a vital role in economic development of the country and state. Enhancement of income of farmers and overall development in rural areas is the priority of the State Government. To provide boost to the economy of the farmers, the state government is ensuring successful implementation of the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi in the state.

The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM- KISAN) scheme envisages to supplement the financial needs of small and marginal farmers having small landholding and to equip them with modern farms tools and technique procuring various inputs to ensure proper crop health and maximum yield.

Empowering the farmers of the state, PM KISAN is also proving handy for their small expenses and enabling them to buy good quality seeds, manure and equipments. With successful implementation of PM Kisan Yojna by Himachal Government in the state, as many as 9 lakh 83 thousand 279 farmer families have been provided with funds amounting to Rs. 1931.63 crore in 11 instalments in the state.

As of now, an amount of Rs. 116.75 crore has been directly transferred into the bank account of 59,607 farmers in district Bilaspur, Rs. 142.08 crore to 70201 farmers of district Chamba, Rs. 120.98 crore to 59699 farmers of district Hamirpur, Rs. 427.37 crore to 215069 farmers of district Kangra, Rs.140.66 crore to 68143 farmers of district Kullu and Rs. 331.09 crore has been paid to 170136 farmers of district Mandi.

Similarly, Rs. 186.45 crore has been transferred through Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme (DBT) into the bank accounts of 93315 farmers of district Shimla, Rs. 127.37 crore has been paid to 73381 farmers of district Sirmaur, Rs. 137.85 crore has been paid to 68339 farmers of district Solan and Rs. 174.36 crore has been transferred directly in the bank accounts of 91325 farmers of district Una.

PM KISAN has brought into its fold the farmers of tribal districts of the state as many as 10966 farmers of district Kinnaur have benefitted with an amount of about Rs.20.72 crore and 3098 farmers of district Lahaul Spiti been have provided an amount of approximately Rs. 5.91 crore since implementation of the scheme.

PM KISAN had also proved beneficial to farmers of the state even during the covid pandemic. An amount of about Rs. 11.27 crore was released to provide relief to farmers of the state during the pandemic period by state government and as many as 93246 farmers had also registered during the period.

To facilitate the farmers and provide maximum benefit of the scheme PM KISAN Portal, Common Service Centres and PM KISAN mobile app have also been launched. PM KISAN portal has been created for ease of monitoring on fund transaction details to the beneficiaries.

An annual financial benefit of Rs. 6,000 is provided to eligible beneficiary farming families, payable in three equal four-monthly installments Rs 2,000 each, under the PM-KISAN scheme.
