Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir reported 19th death due novel coronavirus after a 70 year old female from central Kashmir’s Budgam district of Kashmir died at Srinagar hospital on Thursday.
With this the total number of deaths due to coronavirus reached to 19th, of which 17 are from Kashmir and two from Jammu district.
The 70 year old female, from Parisabad Budgam died at Chest Disease Hospital Srinagar.
Dr Salim Khan, COVID-19 Nodal Officer at Chest Disease Hospital in Srinagar said that female patient was admitted in SMHS Hospital on 15th of May where she tested positive for Covid-19 on 18th of May.
“Patient was shifted to CD Hospital Srinagar as a case of COPD with restrictive lung disease and COVID pneumonia,” he said.
The female patient, he said, died on Thursday at CD Hospital, due to sudden cardiac arrest.
The first death due to COVID19 in J&K was on March 26 of a member of Tableegi-Jamaat, who had traveled history outside.
Till Wednesday evening, Jammu and Kashmir has reported 1390 positive cases of coronavirus out of which 678 have received. The region has currently 694 active positive cases of coronavirus.
With 252 positive cases of coronavirus, South Kashmir’s Anantnag district is badly affected that virus that has claimed 270000 lives worldwide.
