Kerala tourist, pilot dead in paragliding crash

Manali: A tandem paragliding joy ride turned fatal when the paraglider crashed landed in  Kullu district on Sunday.  According to the police sources a tourist from Kerala and a local pilot died in incident Sunday. The tourist, Altho Bachu, died on the spot, whereas paragliding pilot Naresh Kumar succumbed to his injuries in a hospital,

The tourist, Altho Bachu(26), died on the spot, whereas paragliding pilot Naresh Kumar(23 ) succumbed to his injuries in a hospital, district Superintendent of Police Shalini Agnihotri disclosed.

The incident occurred near Dobhi village in Naggar area, 19 km from the district headquarters Kullu.

A case has been registered under Sections 304A (causing death by negligence) and 337 (endangering life by rash or negligently act) of the Indian Penal Code, the SP added.

Patlikuhal police station in charge Daya Ram Thakur is investigating the matter, SP added.

DyaramThakur said it would be investigated whether the accident happened due to negligence.

District tourism development officer Bhag Chand Negi said Falayan site is government approved and the tourism department keeps the check on it the paraglider operators. According to him, the pilot had a license to fly. It seem to be an accident and the case is been in investigated by police he disclosed, the Falayan paragliding site was developed recently, after the national green tribunal after the imposed the restriction on commercial activity at Solang and Rohtang.
