Kullu To Award Localities For Celebrating A Clean & Green Diwali

Kullu: To make a secure and eco-friendly Diwali administration is getting prepared for the festival and appeals public to come forward make the initiative successful by focusing more on the use of clay lamps instead of using crackers.

The way continuously worsening quality of air and environment is being an issue of concern nowadays, district administration too seems to be alert awakening people to do their bit for environment protection by celebrating an eco-friendly Diwali.

District magistrate Yunus revealed about administration’s planning to promote the clean and green Diwali while addressing the media he said, ”Diwali is celebrated every year in our country with fervour by people but taking care of environment is also equally important for all of us. So administration has a special plan to celebrate the festival beautifully with the help of clay lamps (diya). There is a plan of lightening clay lamps at Dussehra ground to awaken people about the importance of clean and green Diwali for the sake of precious environment.”

“Administration is going to promote using earthen lamps during the festival by encouraging poor people engaged in making such earthen items. Efforts would be made to encourage institutions and companies to come forward celebrating eco-friendly Diwali by buying and using mud lamps made by poor people. This’ll help promoting the sale of earthen items as well”, DC further added.

He too said that the plots for mud-items sellers for installing stalls would be provided by administration and gift packs containing mud lamps also would be gifted to the tourists and public by administration appealing them to use less crackers causing air pollution. Wards of Kullu town focusing on celebrating clean and green Diwali will get honoured on the occasion of Repulic Day celebrations.
