Shimla: Fresher’s welcome ‘Viva la Vida – Live life to the fullest, held St Bede’s, at the all girl’s college, crowned Manavi Sherawat as the Miss Fresher 2015 at a lively function that had judges post questions to the contestants.
Sahejdeep Kaur Vohra was declared first runners up and Simran Chauhan was second runner up at the event held in the college premises.
In the no-competitive sections, Vaishnavi was picked as Miss Elegant, Jaspreet was chosen as Miss Beautiful Gait.
Winners of the preliminary round were Himangi Shukla for Singing, Yashika Gamta for Dancing, Ravisha Dutta for Flower Arrangement, Akansha Gupta for Poster Making, Jasmine Kathuria for Creative Writing (English), Kritika for Creative Writing (Hindi), Megha Mukherjee for Poetry Recitation, team of Unnatti Bhutani & Shreya for Rangoli and Sanchita Salwan for Debates.
Simran Arora was adjudged Miss Best Hair Do, Riti Sharma as Miss Charming and Sasha Bakshi as Miss Persona.
Earlier Ananya Seth, the newly elected Admiral of the college welcomed chief guest Dr Shrikant Baldi for the function.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest expressed concern about missing girls in the country and emphasized the importance girl child.
There were about 70 girls who participated in the Miss Fresher Contest of which 30 were shortlisted after the first round.
The winners were picked from the 5 girls shortlisted after the 3rd round who were judged by three judges Dr. R.P Singh, Mrs. Anita Pande and Mrs. Poonam Tsering after a question round.
There was a cultural programme also consisting of prayer dance, medley of songs, Lavni, Bharat Natyam, Rajasthani folk dance and a classical dance performance conducted by Vishal Thakur for the event.
Dr. Deepti Pajni, Mrs. Priyanka Rana, Mrs. Savita Rana and Mrs. Reena Kumari were the main organizers of the function.
A student at St Bede’s College, Apoorva is also incharge of the media cell at the prestigious girls college
