New Delhi: National Human Rights Commission here today red flagged the Himachal Pradesh government over media reports that sex ratio in Una district has dropped to an alarming 500 girls being born against 1000 boys.
The Chief secretary of Himachal Pradesh has been asked to report within 4 weeks
The media report that the National Human Rights Commission took cognizance of has reported that in 25 panchayats of Una the sex ratio in last two years has fallen to less than 500 girls born against 1000 boys.
In some panchayats the condition was worse. Reports of forced abortions have also been mentioned
The law of the country does not permit sex determination tests.
