Shimla: Economic slowdown and curtailment of the excise holiday for Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand notwithstanding, where new investments are practically stalled, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) company Proctor and Gamble (P&G)has proposed an expansion plan of Rs 200 crore that was approved by a high level government authority here yesterday evening.
Chief minister Virbhadra Singh presiding over the 70th meeting of State Level Single Window Clearance and Monitoring Authority (SLSWC&MA), a state body that approves industrial proposals in Himachal Pradesh, the authority approved P&G expansion plan for its home products unit based in Baddi.
A spokesman for the single window authority disclosed that additional investment is intended to be used for setting up a shampoo manufacturing unit which would create 100 new jobs at P&G Baddi unit.
The high level authority also approved expansion plans of drug manufacturing company Ranbaxy Laboratory Ltd.
The Ranbaxy Laboratory expansion proposal plans to make an investment of Rs 19.50 crore for the manufacture of oral solid dosage forms, stated the government spokesman.
The authority also approved establishing of two flour mills as new investments.
Manglaji Flour Mill has proposed and investment of Rs 1.63 crore and The Beas Flour Mill plans of making an investment of Rs 40 lakhs to set up a new unit in Himachal Pradesh got the government nod yesterday.
