Dad’s presence helped me get right exposure: Siddharth Mahadevan

New Delhi, June 27 (IANS) People might think that singer Siddharth Mahadevan may be a new kid on the block, but the youngster feels comfortable in the industry, thanks to his musician father Shankar Mahadevan.

The 20-year-old composed music for a Marathi film and worked on a track in Deepa Mehta’s movie “Midnight’s Children”. He feels his father’s experience helped him get the right exposure.

“I’ve been around musicians and music since my childhood. So surely, it has made me more comfortable. It also helped me get the right kind of exposure and learn the right kind of things,” Siddharth told IANS.

“So far everyone has been very encouraging and supportive, so I’m sure it’s going to be a good journey,” he said.

The singer recently joined forces with his father in director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” and calls the experience exciting.

“It was obviously very exciting. I was anxious as I knew this was going to be a huge film! But I was looking forward to the experience,” he said.

Even though Siddharth enjoys playing cricket and watching football, it is music that he is most passionate about.

“Music has always been my passion… I always knew I’d do something in music because that’s what gave me happiness and singing is a major part of it,” said Siddharth, who is currently pursuing his bachelors in Mass Media from R.D. National College in Mumbai.

Talking about his future projects, Siddharth said: “I’m doing the music for another Marathi film with my cousin Soumil Shringarpure called ‘Saata Lota’. I am also working with dad on a couple of interesting albums.”
