Agartala, June 3 (IANS) A secret agent of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) of Bangladesh was arrested in Tripura, while a local court here sentenced a Pakistani spy to four years in jail, officials said Monday.
“Milon Hussain alias Milon Mia, a secret agent of RAB, was caught by Indian villagers at Kalamchaura in western Tripura Sunday night in connection with a smuggling incident. Later, he was handed over to BSF (Border Security Force), and then to police,” a senior police official said.
Senior police officials are now interrogating the RAB agent, a 38-year-old man.
RAB is an elite anti-crime and anti-terrorism force of the Bangladesh Police.
In a second incident, Chief Judicial Magistrate Biswajit Palit here sentenced to rigorous imprisonment of four years Monir Khan, a spy belonging to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency.
The judge also fined Khan Rs.10,000.
Tripura shares an unfenced 856-km border with Bangladesh, which is porous because it extends over mountains that are densely forested.
