Amman, May 20 (IANS/AKI) Three Syrian refugees, including a 10-year-old boy, have died in Jordan, the country’s official Petra news agency said Monday.
Two Syrians died from injuries they sustained while fleeing the civil war in their country, while the young boy died of an illness at the Al-Zaatari refugee camp.
Three other refugees who were shot while crossing over to Jordan last week have been admitted to Al-Mafraq public hospital, said Anmar Al-Hmoud, government spokesperson for Syrian refugee affairs.
More than 530,000 Syrians have sought refuge in Jordan since the revolt against the rule of President Bashar al-Assad broke out in March 2011. According to UN estimates, 70,000 people have been killed in the conflict.
