Hollywood actor on Mahatma Gandhi’s ‘pure benevolence’

New Delhi, May 27 (IANS) Humans can’t be purely benevolent, unless one is Mahatma Gandhi, says Hollywood actor Alex O’Laughlin, who plays a key role in international TV show “Hawaii Five-0”.

The actor essays the role of Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett, a grey character, on the BIG CBS PRIME show. He feels it is next to impossible to be purely good in today’s day and age unless you’re as great as India’s father of the nation.

“None of us are just purely benevolent or malevolent. It’s not possible for human nature, unless you’re Gandhi. The more flaw you bring to a character, or the more balance you give your character, the closer that character moves towards everyman. And, if that character is an everyman, then we can all sit back and relate, unlike with a superhero,” Alex said in a statement.
