Delhi Police inspector, woman found dead in Gurgaon

Gurgaon/New Delhi, May 11 (IANS) A Delhi Police Special Cell inspector, who had achieved great success in tackling terrorists, allegedly committed suicide after killing a woman who was his live-in partner, police said Saturday.

Inspector Badri Dutt, 45, and Geeta Sharma, 45, were found dead in an apartment here in RD City under Sushant Lok police station.

“Badri Dutt committed suicide after killing Geeta,” Gurgaon’s Additional Commissioner of Police Maheshwar Dayal told IANS.

The reason behind the incident is yet to be established, police said.

Twice awarded for gallantry, Badri Dutt was instrumental in cracking several terrorist modules, said a senior Delhi Police officer.

“Badri specialised in cracking terrorist modules. He had neutralized several terrorists of Hizbul Mujahideen and Jaish-e-Mohammad,” the official told IANS.

Badri Dutt joined Delhi Police as a sub-inspector in 1991. He spent most of his career in Delhi Police’s Special Staff and Special Cell, where he was posted since 1999. An efficient officer, he got an out-of-turn promotion to inspector.

According to a police officer, he was living apart from his wife and two children, who stay in Faridabad, due to a family dispute.
