Islamabad, April 16 (IANS) Nine people were killed in Pakistan Tuesday following a powerful earthquake in neighbouring Iran, a media report said.
Nine people were killed in Mashkel in Balochistan while at least 1,000 homes have been destroyed, reported Geo TV.
An earlier report said that five people, including two children, were killed Tuesday when their house collapsed in Balochistan province.
Three women and two children were killed when their mud house collapsed in Panjgur district following the earthquake, reported Dawn citing government officials.
People rushed out of offices and homes when the quake rocked Pakistan Tuesday afternoon.
An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale jolted Iran-Pakistan border region Tuesday, the US Geological Survey said.
