New Delhi, April 2 (IANS) Sunrisers Hyderabad may not like to think of the way they inherited Deccan Chargers, but they would surely be inspired by the manner their predecessors won the second edition of the Indian Premier League in South Africa four years ago.
The Sunrisers, in a manner of speaking, will have to rise like Phoenix from the ashes of the Chargers.
The reincarnated Sunrisers are making a new beginning. The team, which once had power hitters like Adam Gilchrist, Shahid Afridi, Andrew Symonds, Herschelle Gibbs and Rohit Sharma, has a totally new look.
Their attack is led by currently the world’s best Test fast bowler Dale Steyn of South Africa, with Ishant Sharma in support.
With Amit Mishra, Rusty Theron and Clint McKay in the mix, Sunrisers will hope that their bowlers repeat what the Chargers achieved four years back. Injuries to Shikhar Dhawan and J.P. Duminy may trouble the team management, but they have good all-rounders in Thisara Perera and Darren Sammy.
New recruits: Thisara Perera, Darren Sammy, Sudeep Tyagi, Nathan MCullum, Quinton de Kock, Clint McKay.
Players to watch out for: Kumar Sangakkara, Dale Steyn, Amit Mishra, Shikhar Dhawan.
The squad: Kumar Sangakkara, Cameron White, Dale Steyn, Christopher Lynn, Darren Sammy, Thisara Perera, Akshath Reddy, Amit Mishra, Anand Rajan, Ankit Sharma, Ashish Reddy, Biplab Samatray, Ravi Teja, Parthiv Patel, Shikhar Dhawan, Veer Pratap Singh, Ishant Sharma, Sudeep Tyagi, Sachin Rana, Karn Sharma, Hanuma Vihari, Nathan McCullum, Clint McKay, Quinton De Kock, T.
