Myanmar appoint consultant for Southeast Asia Games

Yangon, April 10 (IANS) Myanmar’s finance and revenue ministry Wednesday appointed two foreign companies as sponsorship management consultant for upcoming 27th Southeast Asian Games to be held in Myanmar later this year.

Under the terms of the appointment, Dentsu Sports Asia, a sports marketing agency established in Singapore, and J.K. Consulting, a consultancy providing solutions for local and international businesses in Myanmar, will be responsible for driving sponsorship for the Games, reports Xinhua.

Through their partnership, both companies will select and procure sponsors in their respective key markets. Hosts Myanmar and 10 nations from Southeast Asia — Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, Vietnam — will participate in the Olympic-style extravaganza featuring over 30 sports.

“The Southeast Asia Games is one of the Southeast Asia’s biggest sports events and Dentsu Sports Asia is proud to be working with the organising committee,” said Kunihito Morimura, chief executive officer of Dentsu Sports Asia.

Meanwhile, 45 Chinese interpreters and 20 Thai interpreters for foreign coaches will be appointed by Myanmar Olympic Committee.

The Games will be held in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay and Ngwesaung beach from Dec 11-22.
