Los Angeles, April 26 (IANS) Singer-songwriter Billy Ray Cyrus is proud of his singer daughter Miley’s achievements and the way she is handling fame.
The 51-year-old, who co-starred with Miley in Disney’s “Hannah Montana”, says their relationship is better after a brief estrangement in 2011.
“I like right now just being her daddy and her friend. I like where our relationship is at right now. I’m very proud of her,” Billy told E! News.
He added: “There’s two sides to the sword, and fame is a very dangerous thing. So you handle it with respect and caution, step by step, day by day. Knowing that, for me, I had a friend to talk to – he was called my dad – and that’s what I try to be for Miley.”
In his memoir “Hillbilly Heart”, Billy has admitted that he is evasive about Miley’s engagement to actor Liam Hemsworth because he is unsure if they will tie the knot.
“I didn’t know the answer. They’re young. They’re kids. The great news is, they’re great friends. They’re really, really good friends. If you end up getting married, that’s your business too, you know?” he explained.
