New Delhi, April 7 (IANS) Himachal Pradesh will set up a judicial academy on the outskirts of state capital Shimla at an estimated cost of Rs.37 crore, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said here Sunday.
The government has allocated land for construction of the academy, said the chief minister, while addressing the chief ministers and chief justices’ conference here.
He said legal aid clinics are being set up at panchayat level and 10 mediation centres have been set up for speedy delivery of justice in the state.
He said the state has created 10 posts of additional district and sessions judges for rendering speedy justice. Two courts of civil judges (junior division) have also been created, which will be notified shortly.
The chief minister said the Himachal Pradesh High Court has a total pendency of 56,899 cases, whereas about 2.24 lakh cases are pending in the subordinates courts.
