Skiing team selections to be held in Manali

Manali: At a special Annual General Meeting convened here Himachal Pradesh Winter Games Association (HPWGA) decided to conduct trials for selection of ski team at Manali.

The selected team would participate in international skiing championships aboard, said Sanjeev Atri, secretary of the association.

With less snow having fallen thus far on the ski slopes, the association after discussing the deficient skiing activity in other parts of Himachal that has hindered training programs also discussed amending some of the bye-laws of the memorandum of association, said Roop Chand Negi, president HPWGA.

The special meeting was held at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali (ABVIMAS).

The house also unanimously elected Duni Chand Thakur of Manali Winter Sports Club as a director of the association and Bhola Ram of SASE Manali and Prem Chand of Manali Winter Sports Club were inducted as two additional vice-presidents of the association.

Besides others those present at the meeting included Cpt Randhir Singh Salhuria, director ABVIMAS who is also an vice president of the association, Roshan Lal Thakur and Mahavir Thakur.
