Shimla: An avalanche hit Himachal Pradesh’s remote hamlet in the picturseque Sangla Valley Tuesday, killing more than 35 domesticated yaks.
However, there was no report of loss of any human life, said Deputy Commissioner J.M. Pathania.
Rescue workers have been sent to the spot.
Sangla Valley in Kinnaur district had a heavy snowfall last week, measuring more than six feet.
The entire Kinnaur district has been cut off from the rest of the state and there has been total electricity failure since Jan 17.
Pathania said roads between the state capital and Rekong Peo, the district headquarters, are likely to be re-opened to traffic in a day or two.
