SP member snatches quota bill from Narayanasamy

New Delhi:¬†Samajawadi Party (SP) leader Yashvir Singh today snatched a copy of the bill on quota in promotions from Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office V. Narayanasamy in the Lok Sabha, leading to the house being adjourned for the day.

Yashvir Singh snatched the copy as Narayanasamy was about to table it in the house for its consideration and passing.

However, this did not go down well with Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, who immediately tried to grab the document from Yashvir Singh’s hand.

Speaker Meira Kumar, visibly surprised with the suddenness of the act, immediately adjourned the house for the day.

Government sources said an angry Sonia Gandhi accompanied the speaker to her chamber and discussed the issue with her.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath said that in his 32 years, he had never seen such an incident which “disrespects the parliament” and the government would urge the speaker to take action against the Samajwadi Party member.

“It’s a sad day for parliamentary democracy. A section of house will disrupt the proceeding and not allow debate to be taken up. They may have a different view but they can debate and vote against it. If you don’t allow the house to function, how will the parliament work?” he said.

“The government will bring the bill to the Lok Sabha tomorrow (Thursday). Adamancy of a party has to be reflected in the debate. This is frustrating parliamentary democracy,” Kamal Nath added.

The Constitution (One Hundred Seventeenth Amendment) Bill, 2012, was passed in the Rajya Sabha Monday.

  • MERIT IS COMMON TO ALL AS PER THE CONSTITUTION PRINCIPLE . NOT FOR PARTICULAR POLITICAL PARTY. WHEN ONCE THIS IS FOLLOWED IN THE SUPREME COURT ON STAY IT IS OPEN THE POLICY FOLLOWS WITH FLAWS AND GROWTH OF POLITICAL PARTY BSP. THE RULING OF SP POLITICAL PARTY DEFEATED THE BSP IN THE 2012 ASSEMBLY ELECTION AND RAISED THE POLICY IS WRONG AGAINST MERIT AND SENIORITY AND TOOK A STAY IN THE SUPREME COURT OF INDIA. WHAT THIS FOLLOWS? BLACK MAILING THE UPA RULED CONGRESS AND ACHIEVE THE POWER OF SC/ST QUOTA. THIS FOLLOWS THE EXPLOITATION OF SOCIAL JUSTICE AND PUSH THE MERIT INTO DITCH. IT IS NOT GOOD ON THE GOVERNMENT SIDE.
