Shimla: Tremors of a slight intensity earthquake were felt in the city in the evening but not losses to life or property were reported.
Shimla meteorological director Manmohan Singh said that the tremors were also felt in much of Himalayan region adjoining Uttarkashi.
The earthquake that had an intensity of 4.8 Richter scale struck at 5.45 p.m. and the epicenter was located at 30.9 degree Latitude and 78.4 degree Longitude in Uttarkashi, he said.
Over the past two month, mild earthquake tremors that had their epicenter in Lahaul valley, Kangra and Chamba region have been recorded.
Much of this region falls in the highly earthquake prone zones with a massive earthquake having hit Kangra in 1905, which had flattened many habitations and thousands of humans lives were lost.
