Shimla: Departure from normal sporting curricula, Bishop Cotton School (BCS) today introduced Scuba diving as a new adventure sports for the all boys residential school to partake in.
In spite of Himachal Pradesh being a mountainous state, BCS has taken the lead in introducing this adventure sport in schools to the country, claimed RC Robinson, headmaster of the over 150 year old institution.
Giving in to the interest shown by students, the school has made the sport mandatory for all.
The ‘Discover Scuba Diving Course’ would give the students a feel of the underwater world and help to overcome fear of water, said Robinson.
Experts who would conduct the course include Archana Sardana, India’s only Master Scuba Diver Trainer from Panchkula, Johann Bharucha, an instructor since 2003 from Port Blair, Samantha Nunes and Rajpreet Warna, search and rescue divers from Goa and Kolkatta.
Scuba diving is a form of underwater diving in which a diver uses a scuba set equipment to breathe underwater.
