Shiromani Akali Dal ready with first list of election candidates

Chandigarh: Deliberating on formulating the party manifesto for the upcoming election, core committee of SAD that met late yesterday night decided to keep the voting rights for Sehajdjhari Sikhs issue outside the election purview even as it authorized president Sukhbir Badal to have the final say in selection of party candidates.

Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal, who is also patron of SAD, was also present at the core committee meet.

Sources privy to the meeting disclosed that the first list is expected to be released anytime soon.

Opposed to voting rights for Sehajdjhari Sikhs in SGPC elections, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is in a bind after a High Court order granted them electoral rights in the religious body.
