Ajit Singh to be sworn in as UPA minister

New Delhi : RLD leader Ajit Singh, who joined the UPA recently, will be sworn in as a cabinet minister Sunday, officials said. He is likely to be allotted the civil aviation portfolio.

The RLD has five MPs in the Lok Sabha, including Singh and his son Jayant Chaudhary.

According to political circles, the Congress admitted the RLD into the ruling alliance to improve its prospects in the coming Uttar Pradesh assembly polls, as the party has influence in western parts of the state.
