Two arrested with 10.5 Kgs of Charas in Himachal

Nahan: A Mumbai based woman travelling with a male companion were caught by police with 10.5 Kgs of Charas in a bus at the Kala Amb border with Haryana during a security check up.

Investigating officer Ranjit Singh said the Mukesh Kumar (51) a resident of Bhadaryan, Mahrasthra and Lalita Devi (35), a resident of Mumbai, had been arrested with the contraband drugs, today.

Security had been beefed up in the region because of BJP senior leader LK Advani visiting the area and the police was doing a routine check of a bus passing through when the team became suspicious about what the couple was carrying in a bag.

The Charas candles were wrapped in polythene sheets that were covered by a newspaper which was sealed with cello tape, said the investigating officer.

The duo claimed that they were coming from Katra in Jammu and were headed to Haridwar, he said.
