Chettri, Nirjala make early lead in Hercules Mountain Biking Himachal 2011

Narkanda: Nepalese mountain biker Ajay Pandit Chettri was leading the Hercules MTB Himachal 2011 at end of day 3 as the cyclists lined up at Tanni Jubbar lake to head into Satluj Valley for a gruelling day on the road that closed at Kullu Saharan camp.

In the women section Nirjala was leading and she was closely followed by Monica, organisers of the event after compiling the results at end of the Day made known.

Besides some slips with some racers ending up with minor bruises, none of the competitors suffered any major injuries in the day.

The Hike ‘n’ Bike ride encountered it toughest climb when the cyclists headed for Hatu Peak at an elevation of 3400 meters altitude.

The riders who started the run from Gada Kuffar after a 63 Km long ride ended the day at the mountain lakeside camp of Tanni Jubbar on Day 2.

The track passing through apple orchards and cedar forests provided some of the most scenic views along the route.

In all 104 riders had lined up for 9 day country biking race that started on 1st October from Shimla.
