Himachal sends Rs 2 crore to Sikkim quake victims

Shimla : The Himachal Pradesh government on Friday sent a draft of Rs 2 crore to the Sikkim earthquake victims as a gesture of support and speedy rehabilitation .

The draft was sent from the Himachal chief minister’s relief fund to the chief minister of Sikkim Pawan Kumar Chamling .

State chief minister P . K . Dhumal has made a fervent appeal to the people of Himachal to contribute liberally to the CM’s relief fund so that money and other relief can be sent to Sikkim .

The death toll in Sikkim due to Sunday’s powerful earthquake has mounted 117 in NE India and 75 in Sikkim alone .

Rescue work has been suspended in Sikkim Friday due to thick fog and heavy clouds. There were reports of multiple landslides in North Sikkim after heavy rains in the area.
