Chandigarh: Congress lawmaker, Sukhpal Khaira has lashed out at chief minister Prakash Singh Badal and his son, Sukhbir Badal who is the deputy chief minister that the duo have acted in a discretionary manner by allocating more fund for home district to the disadvantage of others.
Working of the Badal’s stands exposed in the reply filed by the Punjab government to the Election Commission of India about usage of discretionary financial powers, says Khaira in a written statement.
Information available shows that home district Muktsar got Rs 40.35 Cr and Bhathinda only got Rs 6 Cr, whereas SAS Nagar got only 2.25 Lakhs and Ropar got Rs 13 lakhs in 5 years, he said.
Serious allegations of bias towards Majha and Doaba areas by the Badal family have been leveled by virtually all political parties of state repeatedly. he added.
“All major development projects like thermal plants, universities, engineering and medical colleges including centre sponsored ITI’s, all have gone to Malwa region,†he said.
He added, “What is striking is the bias even within Malwa region, when it comes to their home constituencies of Muktsar and Bathinda. It only goes to show that the Badals are insincere with other parts of Malwa at the cost of their home districts.
The congress demands a thorough probe into unfair, biased and politically motivated distribution of funds by an independent agency, says the congress legislator from Bholath.
