Himachal farmer robbed in Chandigarh

Shimla : An auto rikshaw driver and two other men first beat up a man from Himachal Pradesh and then looted him of his belongings including two cheques worth Rs 161,000, close to deserted spot near the sector 25, cremation grounds,police said.

Reports quoting the SHO Chandigarh sector 11 Gurmukh Singh said Gian Singh had sold his apple crop at the Chandigarh fruit and vegetable market and hired an auto to the sector 43 bus station, but he was instead taken to another place and looted.

Apparently Gian Singh was drunk when the incident took place Monday night.The robbers also snatched his bag, mobile phone,some cash and two cheques he had collected after selling his produce.
