Shimla: Retail chain – Future Group has sought a tie-up with the state government for marketing Himachali Brand Products, which include Kinnaur apples, through the 250 Big Bazar outlets across the country.
In their presentation, the Future Group offered a special platform for Himachali agricultural and horticultural products by dedicating detailed space in their 250 nationwide showrooms to popularize them on a large scale.
Vivek, Director Future Group and Associates said that their outlets had a demand of 5000 tonnes of garlic, 1500 tonnes of apple and 12000 tonnes of potato which could be met from the state immediately.
Responding to a proposal, chief minister PK Dhumal said that a pragmatic strategy was being chalked out to launch Kinnaur apples as a Himachal brand product in Delhi market by mid September.
Speaking about the prospects of cultivating organic crops in the state, the chief minister said Pangi area of Chamba district could be promoted as an organic crop producing belt and produce from the region could be marketed in Europe and America where demand was huge.
Dhumal suggested that floriculture should be included in the marketable products to be sold in the outlets as quality flowers that were in demand were being produced by the farmers in the state.
He said that Future Groups proposal would address the marketing problems being faced by the farmers by offering them larger platform for selling their produce.
