Shimla: Cement conglomerate ACC donated Rs 1 crore for laying of a synthetic athletic track in Hamirpur. Shiv Prasad, chief executive north ACC handed over the donation draft amount to chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal here today.
Thanking the ACC Management for the contribution Dhumal said that work on laying the world class track would begin soon and would be completed by end of the year.
ACC has committed to part bear a cost of Rs 4 crore for the Hamirpur synthetic track that is estimated to cost about Rs 6.89 crore. The cement company, which operates the Barmana cement plants in Himachal has so far donated Rs 1.25 crore for the track.
The chief minister said that Himachal was poised to emerge a hot spot for hosting international level sports events as Ambuja Cements had also committed an amount of Rs 4 Cr for the Rs 6.93 Cr synthetic athletic track coming up at Dharamshala.
Ambuja Cements has already paid Rs 75 lakhs towards construction of the Dharamshala athletic track, he said.
