Second Phase of Himachal Census – 2011 Launched

Hamirpur: By flagging off an awareness rally of students at Hamirpur, chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on the 41st Statehood Day launched ‘Census Operation -2011’, a large demographic operation carried out once in ten years in the country.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that second phase of the Census-2011 was being carried out from February 9 to 28, 2011 and revisional round between March 1 to 5, 2011.

The first phase had successfully completed house listing and housing census, he said. Census exercise would be carried out throughout the country on the basis of the interview with the head of the household, he added.

Asking the citizenry to extend cooperation to the enumerators, he said that the information supplied by the people would be of utmost importance to the Centre and the State for formulating all developmental planning.

Information given by the individuals would be kept strictly confidential under the Census Act, 1948, said Dhumal.

Balbir Tegta, Director of Census Operations, Ishwar Dass Dhiman, Education Minister, Satpal Singh Satti and Virender Kanwar, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries, Smt. Urmil Thakur, local MLA, Rajender Singh, DC, Kuldeep Sharma, SP and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
