Shimla: Upgrading the networks ability to support 3G enabled services, Reliance Communications became the second service provider in Himachal to offer the high-tech connectivity, which on a wireless connection offers live video and real time data transfer facilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Sami Butt, Circle Head- Wireless Business, Reliance Communications, Himachal said that by end of the week, RCOM will commercially offer 3G services to customers in Shimla, Solan, Baddi, Nalagarh, PaontaSahib, Mandi,Kullu, Palampur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Dalhousie, Dharamshala and Una. The network is now capable of offering peak speed upto 21 Mbps.
â€œThe service has a flexible tariff plan with could be afforded by anyone,â€ said Butt. Reliance 3G places us in a unique position with our suite of offerings, covering 3G, CDMA, GSM and Mobile Broadband Data Services on the wireless platformâ€, he added.
â€œReliance 3G services will offer the widest bouquet of cutting edge services including Video Calling, Mobile TV, Video Streaming and Applications accessed at superfast speeds ubiquitously on a variety of Mobile and Personal computing devicesâ€,said Prashant Gokarn, 3G Head â€“ Reliance Communications.
â€œ A superior network with 100% optic backhaul, thousands of content rich applications delivered in an easy-to-access mode on a mobile screen, Personalization options and simple tariffs including daily sachet packs are the 4 pillars that will create a significant differentiation for Reliance 3G services amongst customersâ€, he added.
During the 3G spectrum auction in May 2010, Reliance Communications has bagged 13 telecom circles, which included the metros of Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata and the telecom circles of Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, North East, Jammu & Kashmir, Orissa and Assam.
By including Himachal, the private operator has so far launched its 3G services in 7 circles and targets to cover all the 13 circles by end of the current financial year.
For offering 3G services, Reliance Communications has partnered with Nokia for devices, Facebook, Nokia and Ericsson for applications, Universal Music for content and Motricity for the Web portal.
